This how restaurants repurpose bread that has "almost" come to its end. When you make these its very hard to go back to store bought croutons.

WARNING when they are in the oven it will make your entire house smell so amazing, everyone will keep coming into the kitchen to see what you are making. Then you have to disappoint them and say, "it's just CROUTONS!!!!"

Preheat over or Air Fryer to 350F

  • 1/2 C Grapeseed or Avocado Oil *Chef's Note (see bottom)
  • 1 Glove Clove (use a zester I LOVE MY full size Microplane I use it daily)
  • 1 t Italian Seasoning
  • 1 t Balsamic Vinegar (trust me on this one)
  • Salt (just a pinch)
  • Pepper tt
  • 2-3 C Bread cut into 1/2 inch cubes

Toss all ingredients in a large bowl EXCEPT bread. Whisk for 30-60 seconds. Add bread ˜˜and gently toss allowing the oil to be evenly absorbed by the bread. Place on a sheet pan and bake for 5-8 minutes. I use my air fryer at 340 degrees and bake for 5-7 minutes and they turn out so beautiful.

**Chef's Note: Why I often use these two oils? Because they don't leave a distinctive taste in my food, and has a very high smoke point (high smoke point just means can be heated to a certain degree before it breaks down the oil and burns or smokes. Some sources/scientist claim olive oil can be carcinogenic because of a toxic chemical that is released when heated (for a later discussion).
