Roasting Bell Peppers

IMG_4841.jpg

Roasting a bell pepper is soooo easy! DO NOT waste your money with the stuff in a can or jar! Even the worst cook can achieve this! All your doing is burning it (technically the skin). Place pepper on a high open flame until each side is charred. Once charred drop in a plastic bag or a bowl with a lid on it. Allow to sit for a few minutes- FIVE minutes. This allows the steam to separate the skin from the pepper. Then take the pepper and run it under cold water and gentle slide the charred parts off. This will reveal a beautiful red roasted pepper. Be creative and roast a variety of peppers; poblano, jalapeño etc. Use in salads, sauces and pastas for a culinary twist on your favorite recipes.

If you do not have a gas stove the same method can be achieved by placing your oven on broil. Burn all sides of the pepper then next steps in the method above.
